Alli Commerce Insights is ecommerce market intelligence built into Alli. Before Commerce Insights

Campaign reporting shows one marketplace at a time

Most commerce reporting answers one question: how did my campaign do on this marketplace? That’s useful, and it leaves out the bigger picture. You can tune your own ads and still miss a category shift, a competitor gaining momentum, or demand growing on a retailer where you barely show up.

01

One shelf in view.

Insight is often limited to one marketplace, while you sell on many. A shift on another retailer stays out of sight until it shows up in sales.

02

Metrics that don’t line up.

Each retailer defines its numbers its own way, so comparing a week on Walmart with a week on Amazon takes guesswork.

03

Market signals in another tool.

Your performance lives in one place and market data in another. Someone reconciles them by hand before anyone can make a call.

What Commerce Insights does

Know how your category is moving, retailer by retailer

Purchases, product views, and search across nine retailers and eight Amazon markets, with share of category for every brand.

Track the category

See how your category is moving, every week.

Purchases, product views, and organic search sit in one view, with weekly purchases and conversion rate. The same metrics apply on every retailer, so a week on Walmart and a week on Amazon compare on equal terms.

For your teamYou see a shift while there’s still time to act on it.

Size up competitors

See who’s gaining share, where, and how fast.

Share and index for the top brands by purchases and by search, on every covered retailer. Week-over-week movement shows whether a competitor’s rise is holding or fading.

For your teamStrategy responds to competitor momentum while it’s still early.

Diagnose the funnel

Find where shoppers drop off before you spend to fix it.

Product views, organic search clicks, and purchases are three stages of the same journey. Read together, they show whether a problem is visibility, consideration, or conversion.

What changes

What changes when your team can see the whole category

01

Shifts seen early.

Category and competitor movement shows up week by week, while there’s time to respond before it reaches your sales.

02

Fair comparisons.

The same base metrics on every retailer, so comparing Amazon, Walmart, and Target means something.

03

Spend that follows share.

Retail media and trade budgets go to the retailers and categories where share is moving, backed by market evidence.

04

Market and media in one place.

Commerce Insights sits inside Alli with your media and brand data, so a share shift and a spend shift show up together.

Analysts

Stop stitching retailer exports together.

Every covered retailer uses the same base metrics, cut the same way by brand, category, retailer, and week.

Cross-retailer view

Compare every shelf on equal terms

Shoppers move between retailers, and so does demand. Commerce Insights puts the retailers you sell on side by side, shows what changed, and answers the follow-up question in the same place.

Retailer by retailer

Every major retailer, side by side.

Top retailers ranked by purchases, product views, and search show where demand sits before you plan spend. Brands that sell mostly through Home Depot, Ulta, or Dick’s Sporting Goods get the same depth Amazon-first brands have had.

What moved

Read what changed against the last period.

Pick a brand and a date range to see the change in purchases, views, and search, with the weekly pattern behind it. Share rising on one retailer and falling on another often means demand moved somewhere new.

Find the white space

How it works

How does Commerce Insights work?

Commerce Insights measures three base metrics the same way on every retailer: purchases, product views, and organic search clicks. Every other view, from conversion rate to share of category, is derived from them.

  1. Pick the view

Choose a category, retailer, brand, or competitor set.

  2. Set the time window

Use a rolling window or a custom date range, at weekly granularity.

  3. Compare

See how share, conversion, and search are moving for you and your competitors.

  4. Act

Carry what you find into media planning, retail media spend, creative, or a retail partner conversation.

Why retailer reporting isn’t enough

Retailer and marketplace reporting is good at showing how your own listings and ads performed on that retailer. It isn’t built to show how the category is moving across every place you sell, or how your share compares on equal terms.

Commerce Insights questions, answered.

What Commerce Insights covers, how it’s measured, and how teams use it.

  1. What is Alli Commerce Insights?

Alli Commerce Insights is ecommerce market intelligence built into Alli. It tracks purchases, product views, and organic search clicks across nine major retailers and international Amazon markets, and shows how your category is moving, which competitors are gaining share, and where the white space is. It helps teams move past campaign reporting to a full market view.

  2. Which retailers does Commerce Insights cover?

Commerce Insights covers nine major retailers: Amazon, Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Best Buy, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Ulta, and Sephora. Coverage is deep. The dataset has tracked more than 3.6 million brands on Amazon and more than 370,000 on Walmart, across up to 25 categories per retailer.

  3. Does Commerce Insights cover Amazon outside the US?

Yes. Commerce Insights extends to Amazon in Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, and Australia, so brands with cross-border businesses can see the same category view in each market. The same base metrics apply in every market, so international comparisons hold up.

  4. What metrics does Commerce Insights track?

Commerce Insights is built on three base metrics: purchases, product views, and organic search clicks. From those, it derives conversion rate, click-through behavior, week-over-week trends, and share of category. Every metric can be cut by brand, category, retailer, and time window, using a rolling window or a custom date range at weekly granularity.

  5. Can I see how competitors are performing?

Yes. Commerce Insights shows share of category by brand, so you can see which competitors are gaining or losing share, on which retailers, and how fast. Because the same metrics apply on every retailer, you can compare a competitor’s momentum on Walmart with its momentum on Amazon on equal terms.

  6. How is Commerce Insights different from Amazon Brand Analytics or retailer reporting?

Retailer reporting shows how your own listings and ads performed on one retailer, using that retailer’s definitions. Commerce Insights shows how your whole category is moving across nine major retailers, with the same metrics everywhere. You get competitor share, category trends, and cross-retailer comparisons in one place, inside the same system as your planning and media data.

  7. What’s the difference between purchases and share of category?

Purchases show how much of your product sold. Share of category shows what portion of the category’s total purchases went to your brand. Purchases can rise while share falls, which means the category grew faster than you did. Reading both together tells you whether you’re winning the market or riding it.

  8. Where should a team start with Commerce Insights?

Start with the category and retailer that matter most to your next decision. Look at your share of category over the last few months and put two or three competitors next to you. Then check the same view on a second retailer. The difference between the two is usually where the first useful insight is.
