What is agentic orchestration?
Think of it as a relay. One agent spots a signal, another investigates the cause, a third drafts a response, and a fourth makes the change once a person approves it.
It's different from a single AI assistant answering a single question. Orchestration coordinates several agents across a multi-step process, the way a team coordinates work across roles.
How does agentic orchestration work?
Each step produces an output the next step can use. People take part throughout: they direct the research, shape the plan, and approve the action.
| Step | Who does it | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Signal | An agent | Something worth acting on is detected, such as fatigue or pacing |
| Research | Agent and analyst | The cause is investigated and summarized |
| Recommendation | Agent and strategist | A next step is drafted and weighed |
| Approval | The owner | A person approves, edits, or rejects it |
| Action | An agent | The approved change goes live |
| Result | The system | The outcome feeds back into the data |
What is an example of agentic orchestration?
A creative refresh
A creative analytics agent flags that a top-performing ad is starting to fatigue. A strategist asks an AI assistant which attributes drove its results and decides which hook to change.
A creative production agent prepares refreshed versions from the approved template, and the brand owner reviews and approves them before they go live.
A pacing issue
A monitoring agent flags a campaign pacing ahead of plan. A workflow pulls the context and drafts a recommended budget shift to the team's chat channel.
The media lead weighs it against what they know about the market and decides whether to make the change.
Agentic orchestration vs. traditional automation
| Rule-based automation | Agentic orchestration | |
|---|---|---|
| How work is defined | Fixed if-this-then-that rules | Agents reason about each step |
| Handling the unexpected | Breaks or stops | Adapts, then asks a person when needed |
| Span | Usually one tool | Across several tools and steps |
| Role of people | Set up the rules | Direct the work and approve key decisions |
Why does agentic orchestration matter?
Much of the slow work in a business sits between tools: noticing a signal, pulling context, drafting a response, getting approval. Orchestration takes much of the manual work out of those handoffs while keeping people accountable for the decisions.
- Less time between signal and action. The follow-up starts on its own.
- People stay in control. Decisions that commit budget, launch campaigns, or ship creative pause for approval.
- Consistent answers. When every agent reads the same governed data, their outputs start from the same numbers.
How does Alli do this?
In Alli by PMG, agents across Alli Intelligence, Alli Planning, and Alli Activate pass work to one another on the same governed data foundation. Alli Generative Workflows is the orchestration engine: teams build workflows with Ask Alli or a visual designer, start them from performance triggers like spend, pacing, or CPA, and connect them to the tools they use.
Alerts can start workflows automatically, so the follow-up begins on its own and a person approves the change. Enterprise governance includes credential management, role-based access, and audit trails for every run.

What is the difference between agentic AI and agentic orchestration?
Agentic AI refers to AI that can take steps toward a goal on its own. Agentic orchestration is coordinating several such agents across tools, so their work connects into one process.
Where do people fit in agentic orchestration?
Throughout. People direct the research, shape the plan, and approve every decision that commits budget, launches a campaign, or ships creative.
Is agentic orchestration safe for business use?
It can be, when agents act within each user's permissions, read from governed data, keep audit trails, and pause for human approval on consequential steps.
How is agentic orchestration different from workflow automation?
Traditional automation follows fixed rules in one tool. Agentic orchestration coordinates AI agents across tools that can reason about each step and hand off to a person when judgment is needed.
